BRENT CARVER

Brent Carver is a major Canadian talent whose stage, television and film work has been much admired and celebrated. Carver is, perhaps, best known internationally for his performance as Molina in "Kiss of the Spiderwoman" (Toronto, New York and London productions), a role which earned him a Tony Award, a New York Drama Desk Award, a Dora Mavor Moore Award and an Olivier Award nomination. His 1998 performance in "Parade" was lauded by the New York critics and won him a second Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actor in a Musical, as well as a Tony Award nomination. His extensive stage credits include the recent "My Life With Albertine (Playwrites Horizon, New York); "Larry's Party" (CanadianStage, Toronto); the title role in "Don Carlos" and Orante in "The Msanthrope" (Soulpepper Theatre Company, Toronto); Donnie in"High Life" and David in"Unidentified Remains and the True Nature of Love" (Crow's Theatre, Toronto); the title roles in "Richard III" (Citadel Theatre, Edmonton); Jack in "The Importance of Being Ernest" and the title role in"Tartuffe" (CanadianStage, Toronto); Ariel, opposite Anthony Hopkins in "The Tempest" (Mark Taper Forum, Los Angeles); Dudedat in "The Doctor's Dilemma" (The Grand Theatre, London, Ont.); and Ned Lowenscroft in Timothy Findlay's "Elizabeth Rex", Tevye in "Fiddler on the Roof", Emcee in "Cabaret", Eiliff in "Mother Courage", Don John in "Much Ado About Nothing" and the title role in "Hamlet" for the Stratford Festival, Stratford, Ontario. Brent performed the title role in the play "Cyrano de Bergerac" at Edmonton's Citadel Theatre in a production directed by Robin Phillips. He recieved the Dora Mavor Moore Award for his performances in "High Life", "Unidentified Remains", "Bent", as well as "Kiss of the Spiderwoman". Brent's film credits include "Elizabeth Rex", "The Event", "Ararat". "Deeply", "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow", the Gemini Award-winning "lilies", "Whiskers", "The Edge: A Lover's Lament", "The Wars", "The Song", "Spinner", and "Leonardo: A Dream in Flight". Brent has recieved Gemini Awards for his performances in "Young At Heart", "One Night Stand", "Crossbar", "Due South", and "Street Legal: Last Rites".
